Policy framework being strengthened

Safeguarding

Protecting learners is part of professional practice.

FutureTeacher is a teacher-facing platform, but every decision a teacher makes with AI can reach a learner. This page sets out how we expect that responsibility to be carried.

Safeguarding principles

  • The welfare of learners comes first
  • Teachers remain professionally responsible for anything AI-assisted that reaches a learner
  • Concerns are taken seriously, recorded and acted on promptly
  • Information is shared only on a need-to-know basis

Teacher conduct expectations

  • Follow your school, GES and NTC professional conduct requirements
  • Treat other participants and assessors with respect
  • Submit only your own work for assessment
  • Never upload identifiable learner information into AI tools or FutureTeacher activities

Learner protection

  • No learner names, photographs, medical, disciplinary or family information in activities
  • Use de-identified or invented examples in evidence
  • Institutional programmes follow approved data-governance protocols

Prohibited behaviours

  • Sharing or generating sexual, violent, discriminatory or degrading content
  • Harassment or intimidation of any participant
  • Impersonation or assessment fraud
  • Requesting payments outside official FutureTeacher channels

Digital safeguarding

  • Check AI output for inappropriate, biased or unsafe content before any classroom use
  • Do not direct learners to unvetted AI tools
  • Protect accounts and do not share login details

AI-generated inappropriate content

  • Do not use it, share it or present it to learners
  • Record what was produced and by which tool, without learner data
  • Report it through the reporting route if it relates to the platform or a programme

Policy framework currently being strengthened as part of institutional readiness. FutureTeacher does not claim any safeguarding certification.

Reporting & Escalation

How to raise a concern

    Immediate risk

If a child is at immediate risk, contact your head teacher and the relevant authorities first.

  2. 02

    Report to us

Use the contact form and select the category that fits. Mark the message "Safeguarding".

  3. 03

    Designated lead

Reports are reviewed by the FutureTeacher Safeguarding Lead (designated role within Direct Warranty).

  4. 04

    Escalation

Where required, matters are referred to the school, GES or other appropriate authority.

Whistleblowing: concerns about FutureTeacher staff, assessors or partners can be raised the same way and will be handled confidentially. Open the reporting form.
